Teach them

A poem about forgiveness and a skill that is needed to form long-lasting relationships amid human failings.

Forgive and forget, that’s what they say,

So you can be a fool for them on yet another day.

Forgive, but don’t forget. That’s my advice,

They’ve shown you what they are with those small, hurtful slights.

Remember. Be wise. Love them, but with care.

Because they WILL try again, and you’ll set them right if you’re aware.

Forgive, but be careful when they step out of line,

Teach them to get off that bus at the right place, and time.

Inspired by the people who live with love and forgiveness. With kindness and wisdom. And with a commitment to finding meaningful relationships amid human failings.

May we all learn their skills.
