An overhead unit that wouldn’t close,
Good customer service, but really slow.
Six months to deliver and install a new door,
When will they take the old one back?
Two weeks right now, and I still don’t know.
The review below is based on our experience with our Godrej Interio cupboards, and purchasing an overhead unit from them, and may not represent the experience of other customers.
We purchased overhead units for our old Godrej Slimline cupboards from the Godrej Interio branch at Vashi in January 2019. The product is excellent, takes in a lot of stuff, and needs very little maintenance. The cupboards look quite nice as compared to regular metal cupboards, and they’re good during the monsoon as they don’t get damp and musty like wooden cupboards. Our original cupboards are about 15 years old at the time of this post. They’ve survived 5 house moves, and still look like new, except for a very little bit of rusting at the door corners, which we need to get touched up.
The Godrej Interio technicians are well trained, and very polite to deal with, which is more than I can say for the Godrej lock service technicians. We actually prefer to install locks independently as we’ve felt they were very rude and stressful to deal with in the past.
We did have one bad experience with Godrej Interio when the overhead unit was delivered and installed. The customer service line was not reachable, and we needed the main cupboards to be aligned before installing the overhead units. The person who delivered and installed our overhead units overcharged us for the cupboard alignment. We couldn’t get through to customer service to register a service request for over a week, or to check the quote for alignment, so we just paid what he asked. The company later refunded the excess charge. It was really nice of them to do this, as we really hadn’t expected they would.
The overhead unit was fine on installation but after, we had an issue with one overhead unit. The door wouldn’t close completely (there was a gap) after we had opened and closed it a few times. It took the company almost 4 months to deliver and test a new hinge, and 2 months more to change the door.
Today 8 July 2019, makes about 6 months since purchase of the overhead unit, and 2 weeks since an new door was installed. I’ve called twice in the past couple of weeks, asking the service centre to pick up the old door and one set of hinges. They say they will, but I am still waiting for it to happen. The door is quite big and is lying in our living room, against the wall and I really just want it gone.
I would still recommend the product based on our experience with using it, with a caution for buyers to be prepared to do a LOT of follow-up if there’s any issue that shows up post-installation and needs spare parts delivered that are not usually in stock. Barring that, there is no need for anything other than the occasional alignment or touch up for rust when the cupboard gets old, and these service requests I think, get seen to on time.
Honestly, I wouldn’t have minded the wait if the company had been clear about it, rather than keep making appointments and not turning up. This would have saved me a lot of time on follow-ups too. The customer service helpline in Godrej Interio doesn’t seem to have any role other than forwarding complaints to the respective service centre, and don’t seem to be proactive in follow up when there are delays.
An excellent product, with well trained, polite customer service and technicians. It’s a shame they can’t deal with post installation issues that need parts replaced in a timely fashion.
