The game

I don’t know you so I pass you by,

When I walk past every day.

You start to wish me, with a smile in your eyes,

And I think that you’re friendly and it’s a nice surprise!

So, I smile when I see you thinking it’s ok,

But your smile starts to cool and get pasty.

This game that you play just isn’t my way,

But maybe the distance is what suits you today.

I smile at the sun on the days that are bright,

I smile at the sky when it’s cloudy.

‘Cos clouds bring the rain, so there’s growth and renewal,

And the growing pains don’t scare me.

I know you well so I pass you by.

‘Cos your smile has gone pasty and doesn’t reach your eyes.

I still smile with my eyes, I’m not gonna change,

I feel the warmth of the sun when I stand in the rain.

On games people play 🙂
